By removing many of the residence interior walls, and even replacing some exterior walls with windows, flooding every floor of this contemporary multi-tiered home with warm sunlight. Slim strips of ipe wood envelop this house, creating an enticing interior visible from the outside. But the innovative minds at Terry & Terry Architecture have also brought an eco-friendly purpose to this thoughtfully selected material. “The ipe wood skin is devised as a double wall system, in which horizontal ipe strips are placed over vertical, furring strips,” according to Terry & Terry Architecture. “This allows ventilation between the skin and the underlying wall, thus avoiding heat build up in the wall and interior spaces.” Terry & Terry Architecture
